Three stages. Prelims: one objective General Knowledge paper — 120 questions, 120 marks, 2 hours, 0.25 negative marking — used only for screening, with roughly 20× the posts qualifying for Mains. Mains: four descriptive papers — GK & Current Affairs (100), General English (50), English Essay (50) and Hindi (50) — totalling 250 marks, and you must pass every paper. Viva-voce: 40 marks. Yes — unlike the HP Allied Services exam, Naib Tehsildar has a viva-voce/personality test of 40 marks after Mains, and those marks count in the final merit. Around 3× the number of posts are called to the viva, so it regularly reorders the merit list. Our board-style mock vivas prepare you for it specifically.

A Bachelor's degree in any stream from a recognised university, and age between 18 and 45 years on the cut-off date in recent notifications, with category-based relaxations as per HP Government norms. Knowledge of the customs, manners and dialects of Himachal Pradesh is treated as desirable. There is no limit on attempts within the age window.

A Naib Tehsildar is a Class-II officer of the HP Revenue Department handling land records, mutations, demarcations, revenue collection, calamity relief and election duties at tehsil/sub-tehsil level. Pay follows the HP Government pay matrix level notified for the post, plus DA and allowances — recent cycles recruited on a regular basis. The promotion ladder runs Naib Tehsildar → Tehsildar → senior revenue posts.

Tehsildar heads the tehsil's revenue administration; Naib Tehsildar is the officer rank directly below, often holding independent charge of a sub-tehsil. Direct recruitment through HPPSC happens at the Naib Tehsildar level, and Tehsildar posts are largely filled by promotion from NT — so clearing NT puts you on the Tehsildar track.

Yes — and you should. The GK universe (HP + India + current affairs) overlaps almost entirely, and the writing skills transfer directly. The differences are structural: HPAS adds an optional subject and a 1050-mark merit; Allied has no interview; NT has a 40-mark viva and a dedicated English Essay paper.
