- On September 14, 2022, Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah laid the foundation stone of KRIBHCO Hazira, a bioethanol project of Krishak Bharti Cooperative Limited in Surat, Gujarat.
- KRIBHCO's Bio-Ethanol Project is a meaningful step towards a multi-pronged campaign of cooperative sector, environmental reforms, doubling farmers' income, increasing India's foreign exchange reserves and meeting the challenge of global warming.
- Ethanol blending in petrol to benefit the country’s economy by 1 lakh crores by 2025.
- Due to ethanol blending, Rs. 46000 crores will be saved on oil imports.
- A national level organization will be created for marketing and sales of organic products.
- Multi State Co-operative Societies will be created for promotion of co-operative sector and export of organic products.
- Maize is the main crop in about 9 districts of Gujarat and in addition 10 districts of the state can grow maize and farmers can be benefited a lot through this plant. Along with this, the economy and foreign exchange reserves of the country will be benefited by making bio-fuel from the spoiled maize and this plant will infuse a new hope in the lives of the farmers.
