On September 14, 2022, Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah laid the foundation stone of KRIBHCO Hazira, a bioethanol project of Krishak Bharti Cooperative Limited in Surat, Gujarat.
KRIBHCO's Bio-Ethanol Project is a meaningful step towards a multi-pronged campaign of cooperative sector, environmental reforms, doubling farmers' income, increasing India's foreign exchange reserves and meeting the challenge of global warming.
Ethanol blending in petrol to benefit the country’s economy by 1 lakh crores by 2025.
Due to ethanol blending, Rs. 46000 crores will be saved on oil imports.
A national level organization will be created for marketing and sales of organic products.
Multi State Co-operative Societies will be created for promotion of co-operative sector and export of organic products.
Maize is the main crop in about 9 districts of Gujarat and in addition 10 districts of the state can grow maize and farmers can be benefited a lot through this plant. Along with this, the economy and foreign exchange reserves of the country will be benefited by making bio-fuel from the spoiled maize and this plant will infuse a new hope in the lives of the farmers.
