- The Ministry of Minority Affairs implemented the ‘Seekho Aur Kamao’ scheme (SAK) for the benefit of six (6) notified minority communities.
- This scheme targeted to upgrade the skills of minority youth (14-45 years) in various modern/ traditional skills depending upon their qualification, prevailing economic trends, and market potential, which could earn them suitable employment or make them suitably skilled to take up self-employment. 33% of the total allocation was also earmarked for female beneficiaries.
- The scheme was implemented by the Ministry through impaneled Project Implementing Agencies (PIAs).
- The scheme ensures 75% placement, out of which 50% should be in the organized sector.
- As per scheme guidelines, the implementing organizations will be required to establish linkages with placement services.
- For the candidates interested in self-employment after availing the training, the organization shall arrange easy microfinance/ loans for them through financial institutions, National Minority Development Finance Corporation (NMDFC), banks, etc.
- Post-placement support of Rs. 2000/- per month is provided to placed trainees for two months as placement assistance.
