Aleksander Ceferin elected as UEFA President by acclamation

  • The 47th Ordinary UEFA Congress was held today in Lisbon, Portugal, and the 55 member associations unanimously re-elected Aleksander Ceferin as UEFA President for a four-year term by acclamation.
  • Ceferin was first elected unopposed in 2019.
  • In April 2021, UEFA president Aleksandar Ceferin faced a significant challenge to the established order of European club football when some of Europe’s top clubs attempted to form a separate European Super League.
  • Ceferin was vocal in his opposition to the proposed Super League, describing it as an “outrageous, self-serving proposal” that put the future of the Champions League at risk.
