Essential qualification
- Bachelor's degree from a recognised university
- Typing speed of at least 30 wpm in English or 25 wpm in Hindi on computer
Desirable: knowledge of the customs, manners and dialects of Himachal Pradesh, and suitability for appointment in the conditions prevailing in the State.

- Minimum 18 years, maximum 45 years, as on 01.01.2026
- Upper age relaxable by up to 5 years for SC, ST, OBC and Persons with Disabilities who are domiciles of Himachal Pradesh
- The same relaxation applies to HP Government employees and ex-servicemen of Himachal Pradesh

A candidate is eligible for appointment only if they have passed Matriculation and 10+2 from a school or institution situated within Himachal Pradesh. This condition does not apply to bonafide Himachalis.

The screening test decides merit; the typing test only decides whether you clear it. Rechecking or re-evaluation of any test is not permitted. The provisional answer key is published online and objections may be filed within seven days against a fee of ₹200 per question.

- Sign up Create a username and password on hprca.hp.gov.in.
- Complete One Time Registration (OTR) Enter personal details, educational qualifications and work experience, then upload your photograph, signature and supporting documents. OTR is mandatory before any application.
- Complete or update your profile Only candidates with a completed profile can apply. Edit the profile if a qualification or contact detail has changed.
- Apply for Post Code 26045 Find the Clerk (Job Trainee) post in the list and click Apply.
- Choose your preferred exam district HPRCA may allot a different centre if nodes are unavailable.

Upload specifications
Passport-size photograph not older than one month, and a scanned signature. Both in JPG, JPEG or PNG format, each up to 1 MB. Enter your name, father's name, mother's name and date of birth exactly as on your Matriculation certificate. Only one application per post is allowed — duplicates are liable to be rejected.

For PwBD candidates
Scribe or reader from the HPRCA panel, technological assistance and compensatory time of 20 minutes per complete hour may be allowed, subject to prior authorisation. The prescribed form must be submitted at least 15 days before the CBT. No request will be entertained at the examination centre.
Notices and admit card
Admit cards are not sent by post — download them from hprca.hp.gov.in using your Application ID, name and date of birth, with an OTP sent to your registered mobile or email. Rejection lists are also published online only, so keep the number and email address you use in the form active throughout.
Candidates already in regular government service must inform their Head of Office in writing that they have applied. Contract, casual, adhoc, daily-wage, work-charged and Job Trainee employees do not need an NOC. Any dispute is subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Himachal Pradesh.
