What is the HP Police Constable exam?
The HP Police Constable recruitment is conducted by the Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (HPPSC) to fill Constable (Male and Female) posts in the Himachal Pradesh Police Department.
Selection has two parts. First comes the physical test: the Physical Standard Test (height and chest) and the Physical Efficiency Test (running and jumps). The PET is qualifying only. Then comes the written exam of 90 marks, which, together with height marks and NCC marks, makes the final merit of 100.

Male candidates need a height of 5 feet 6 inches (General, EWS, OBC) or 5 feet 4 inches (SC, ST, Gorkhas), with a chest of 31 inches unexpanded and 32 inches expanded (29 and 30 inches for SC, ST, Gorkhas). Female candidates need a height of 5 feet 2 inches (General, EWS, OBC) or 5 feet (SC, ST, Gorkhas).
What are the events in the physical efficiency test?
Male: 1500 m run in 5 minutes 30 seconds, 100 m in 14 seconds, high jump of 1.35 m and broad jump of 4 m. Female: 800 m run in 3 minutes 45 seconds, 100 m in 17 seconds, high jump of 1.10 m and broad jump of 3 m. The test is qualifying, and failing any one event ends the test for that candidate.
Do NCC certificates give extra marks?
Yes. NCC certificates count in the final merit: C certificate 4 marks, B certificate 2 marks and A certificate 1 mark.
What qualification is required?
You need to have passed Matriculation and 10+2. Both must be from a school or institution in Himachal Pradesh, except for bonafide Himachalis. Persons with disabilities are not eligible for the post.
When is the HP Police Constable physical test in 2026?
