Descriptive Hindi paper on the same lines — निबंध (essay), संक्षेपण (précis), अपठित गद्यांश (comprehension), व्याकरण और शब्द-प्रयोग. Many aspirants lose easy marks here by never practising structured Hindi writing before the exam; we make it a weekly habit.

No. The HP Allied exam has only two stages — an objective Prelims (screening) and a descriptive Mains. Prelims marks are not counted, and the final merit is prepared entirely from the three Mains papers (English 100, Hindi 100, General Knowledge 200), with posts allotted by merit and your preference order. That is why our coaching is Mains-writing-first from day one.

Prelims: one objective General Knowledge paper — 200 questions, 200 marks, 3 hours, with 0.25 negative marking per wrong answer; around 20 times the number of posts qualify for Mains. Mains: three descriptive papers of 3 hours each — English (100), Hindi (100) and General Knowledge (200) — totalling 400 marks, which alone decide the final merit. Always verify details in the latest HPPSC notification.

A Bachelor's degree in any stream from a recognised university, and age between 18 and 45 years on the cut-off date, with category-based relaxations. As these are Class-III posts of the HP Government, recent notifications carry conditions favouring candidates who did their Matric and 10+2 from institutions in Himachal Pradesh — check the exact clause in the current notification. There is no limit on attempts.

Posts vary by cycle. Recent notifications have included Election Kanungo, Inspector (Cooperation), Extension Officer (Industries), Inspector (Audit), Panchayat Inspector and Tehsil Welfare Officer — Class-III posts across the Elections, Cooperation, Industries, Panchayati Raj and Welfare departments of the HP Government.

Allied posts are Class-III (Group-C) positions. In recent cycles, appointment is initially on contract with fixed monthly emoluments as per the pay level notified for each post, followed by regularisation under HP Government policy — after which pay follows the state pay matrix with DA and allowances, plus departmental promotion channels. Exact pay differs post to post; check the pay column of the current HPPSC notification.

HPAS is the state's Class-I/II combined exam (SDM, DSP, Tehsildar etc.) with three stages including an interview, an optional subject and a 1050-mark merit. HP Allied fills Class-III posts through just two stages — Prelims and Mains — with no optional and no interview. The syllabus overlaps heavily (especially HP GK and current affairs), which is why many aspirants prepare for both together with us.
