- Recently, the World Bank’s Women, Business and the Law Report 2023 has been released, which covers 190 countries.
- Significantly the UAE scored 82.5 out of 100 possible points across 35 sub-indicators divided into eight major areas of the report: Mobility, Workplace, Pay, Marriage, Parenthood, Entrepreneurship, Assets, and Pension.
- India gets a perfect score in indicators like constraints on freedom of movement, laws affecting women’s decisions to work, constraints related to marriage, and maritime cooperation.
- India lags behind when it comes to laws affecting women’s pay, laws affecting women’s work after having children, constraints on women starting and running a business, gender differences in property and inheritance, and laws affecting the size of a woman’s pension.
