WEF Centre for the fourth Industrial Revolution to come up in Hyderabad

  • The Fourth Industrial Revolution Center (C4IR) of the World Economic Forum will be set up in Hyderabad.
  • The first-of-its-kind center in the country was announced at the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum.
  • It is India’s first thematic center and will be an autonomous, non-profit organization, leading on policy and governance for healthcare and life sciences.
  • Telangana has invested Rs 4,200 crore in the World Economic Forum.
  • World Economic Forum Managing Director Jeremy Jurgens signed a collaboration agreement with Shakthi Nagappan, Chief Executive Officer, Telangana Life Sciences Foundation in the presence of IT and Industry Minister KT Rama Rao, which was seen as a major achievement for Telangana on the very first day.
  • C4IR Telangana is the 18th center to join the World Economic Forum’s Fourth Industrial Revolution (C4IR) network, which is spread across four continents.
  • With the establishment of this center, Telangana will become an important node in the global network of C4IR units and will also help Telangana to consolidate its leadership position globally.
  • It reflects the existing ecosystem for the life science sector in Telangana. Life Sciences was one of the priority areas in Telangana.
  • The decision to set up the C4IR center in Hyderabad can leverage the current ecosystem to further accelerate the value and impact created by Telangana’s life sciences sector globally.
