- On the 50th birthday of Sachin Tendulkar, the West Stand at Sharjah cricket stadium was renamed after the legend, as per TOI.
- It is also on the 25th anniversary of the famous 134 by Sachin vs Australia.
- Tendulkar smashed 143 runs against Australia at the stadium in April 1998 in a One-Day International dubbed ‘Desert Storm’ after play was disrupted for 25 minutes due to a sand storm.
- His knock guided India to the tri-series final against Australia, which India won by six wickets with Tendulkar striking 134 runs on his 25th birthday.
- The Little Master has scored 49 centuries in ODIs played in 34 stadiums, but he has seven centuries at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
- Apart from this, Sharjah Cricket Stadium also holds the Guinness record for playing the most number of One Day Internationals (244).
- Recently honoring Sachin on his 50th birthday, a gate named after him was unveiled at the iconic Sydney Cricket Ground.
