On the 50th birthday of Sachin Tendulkar, the West Stand at Sharjah cricket stadium was renamed after the legend, as per TOI.
It is also on the 25th anniversary of the famous 134 by Sachin vs Australia.
Tendulkar smashed 143 runs against Australia at the stadium in April 1998 in a One-Day International dubbed ‘Desert Storm’ after play was disrupted for 25 minutes due to a sand storm.
His knock guided India to the tri-series final against Australia, which India won by six wickets with Tendulkar striking 134 runs on his 25th birthday.
The Little Master has scored 49 centuries in ODIs played in 34 stadiums, but he has seven centuries at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
Apart from this, Sharjah Cricket Stadium also holds the Guinness record for playing the most number of One Day Internationals (244).
Recently honoring Sachin on his 50th birthday, a gate named after him was unveiled at the iconic Sydney Cricket Ground.
