- President Droupadi Murmu had awarded Padma Shri to Nek Ram Sharma, a farmer of Nanj village in Karsog subdivision of Mandi district, in Delhi on April 5.
- He has been conferred the award for reviving the traditional crop system of nine foodgrains.
- Nekram Sharma has been associated with natural farming for the past 20 years and is working to revive the traditional cropping system of nine grains that are beneficial to health.
- For this he will be awarded the Padma Shri award.
- Due to the announcement of his name, there is an atmosphere of happiness in the entire state including Karsog.
- Nekram Sharma, associated with natural farming, has inspired 20 thousand farmers across the state for farming.
- Nekram Sharma is doing the noble work of reviving the traditional cropping system of nine grains. In this, the vanishing traditional grains of the country and the state like Kagani, Kodra, Sok, Jowar etc. along with coarse grains like desi maize and barley etc. are included.
- Similarly, Nekram Sharma is also working for the conservation of Dal Kolthi.
- These grains are not only nutritious to eat, but are also very beneficial for health.
