Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman appointed as prime minister

Saudi Arabia's powerful Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has been appointed prime minister - a post that is traditionally held by the king.
According to a royal decree, King Salman has made his second son Prince Khalid the Defense Minister from Deputy Defense Minister.
The 37-year-old crown prince, widely known by the acronym MBS, has taken the lead on Vision 2030, the kingdom's wide-ranging plan to transform its economy and end its dependency on oil.
Shah, 86, will continue to preside over the cabinet meetings. Salman bin Abdul Aziz is going unwell these days and has been admitted to the hospital several times. Prince Mohammed bin Salman was earlier the Defense Minister.
