- Recently Russian President Vladimir Putin has announced the annexation of 4 cities of UkraineDonetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson in Russia.
- For this an event was organized in the Kremlin. Putin has acquired these areas by signing in the Kremlin. Putin has also appointed heads of states in these states.
- Putin attempted to claim that the referendums reflected the will of “millions” of people, despite reports from the ground suggesting that voting took place essentially – and in some cases, literally – at gunpoint. Western leaders have slammed the polls, saying that they fail to meet internationally recognized standards of free and fair elections.
- In one of his toughest anti-American speeches in more than 20 years in power, Putin signalled he was ready to continue what he called a battle for a “greater historical Russia”, slammed the West as neo-colonial and as out to destroy his country, and without evidence accused Washington and its allies of blowing up the Nord Stream gas pipelines.
