A new Battlefield Surveillance System (BSS) under Project Sanjay is in the process of being deployed, after extensive validation carried out in the plains, deserts, and mountains.
Under Project Sanjay, a new Battlefield Surveillance System (BSS) will be deployed soon, for which extensive validation was done last year in plains, desert and mountainous terrain.
The Indian Army is in the process of signing a contract with BEL Ghaziabad for the delivery of multiple surveillance centers to field formations by December 2025.
It will also be integrated with another application, the Artillery Combat Command Control and Communication System (ACCCCS), to complete the grid.
ACCCCS is one of the oldest and most successful operational information systems of the Army, which is also being upgraded.
Under this, information and data from thousands of secure sensors will be integrated into a comprehensive system that will help army commanders with quick decision-making capabilities.
In addition, the Army is setting up captive data centers across the country and these are expected to be fully operational this year.
The project is an in-house decision support system called Situational Awareness Module for the Army (SAMA) and will integrate inputs from all operational and managerial information systems.
The SAMA will be first commissioned in June 2023 in the Northern Command of the Army.
