- Under Project Sanjay, a new Battlefield Surveillance System (BSS) will be deployed soon, for which extensive validation was done last year in plains, desert and mountainous terrain.
- The Indian Army is in the process of signing a contract with BEL Ghaziabad for the delivery of multiple surveillance centers to field formations by December 2025.
- It will also be integrated with another application, the Artillery Combat Command Control and Communication System (ACCCCS), to complete the grid.
- ACCCCS is one of the oldest and most successful operational information systems of the Army, which is also being upgraded.
- Under this, information and data from thousands of secure sensors will be integrated into a comprehensive system that will help army commanders with quick decision-making capabilities.
- In addition, the Army is setting up captive data centers across the country and these are expected to be fully operational this year.
- The project is an in-house decision support system called Situational Awareness Module for the Army (SAMA) and will integrate inputs from all operational and managerial information systems.
- The SAMA will be first commissioned in June 2023 in the Northern Command of the Army.
