“Prahari app” of the Border Security Force launched by Union Home Minister Amit Shah

  • The Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah launched the Mobile App ‘Prahari’ of the Border Security Force (BSF) in New Delhi on 29 December 2022.  
  • Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai, and Director General of BSF Pankaj Kumar Singh were among those dignitaries present on the occasion.
  • This BSF app is a great example of Proactive Governance, now jawans can get information related to personal and service related like information, accommodation, lifespan-CAPF, and leave on their mobile.
  • Whether it is GPF, BIO DATA or problem-solving on Centralized Public Grievance Redressal and Monitoring System (CP-GRAMS), or information about various welfare schemes, now jawans can get all this information through the app and this app will help them connect with the portal of Ministry of Home Affairs.
  • Shri Amit Shah said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has recently started the Vibrant Village program. He urged all the Border Security Force that through the Vibrant Village program, they should make efforts towards increasing tourism inside the village, making the village self-sufficient and equipped with complete facilities.
  • The Border Security Force was raised on 1 December 1965 after the India-Pakistan war of 1965. It is a border force that is deployed along the International border with Bangladesh and Pakistan.
  • BSF is also known as the nation’s ’first line of defense. It comes under the Union Ministry of Home Affairs.
  • The Home Minister said that in the last 3 years, 26000 kg of narcotics were seized and 2500 arms and ammunition were seized through BSF.
  • BSF has done the task of shooting down 22 drones on the western border within the last 6 months, which is a huge achievement.
