- On May 17, 2023, under ‘Operation Dwasth’, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in collaboration with the Punjab and Haryana Police raided 324 locations in six states and two union territories.
- During the raid, the officials recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition, besides several incriminating material.
- The day-long raids focused on weapon suppliers, financiers, logistic providers and hawala operators associated with the hardcore gangs working with drug smugglers and terrorists based out of other countries such as Pakistan and Canada.
- The raids were conducted in Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Chandigarh, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh and three accused persons were also arrested.
- The Punjab Police raided 143 locations in 17 districts, and the Haryana Police raided 52 locations in ten districts.
- According to the NIA press release, these operations targeted drug traffickers based in Pakistan and Canada, among other countries, and arms suppliers, financiers, logistics providers and hawala operators linked to hardcore gangs collaborating with terrorists.
