Mauganj, a tehsil of Rewa, becomes the 53rd district of Madhya Pradesh

  • Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on March 4 announced to make Tehsil Mauganj of Rewa district the 53rd district of the state.
  • The purpose of this move of the government is to end the discontent against the government regarding the lack of adequate representation for the politically important Vindhya region in the state cabinet.
  • Mauganj district, bordering Uttar Pradesh, will have four tehsils – Mauganj, Hanumana, Naigarhi, and Devtalab with a population of more than six lakhs.
  • In a program of distribution of funds under the Sambal scheme, CM Chouhan transferred ₹605 crores as assistance in the bank accounts to 27,000 beneficiaries of the ‘Sambal Yojana’ with a single click-through virtual medium.
  • Along with this, the CM laid the foundation stone for construction works to be done in the newly formed district announcing ₹784 crores for the work.
