The Indian Navy unveiled its latest warship, Mahendragiri, in Mumbai on September 1.
Named after a peak in the Eastern Ghats situated in Odisha, Mahendragiri is the final frigate constructed under Project 17A.
The ceremony took place at the Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Ltd, where Sudesh Dhankhar, spouse of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, had the honor of launching the ship.
These Project 17A vessels were conceptualized and designed by the Indian Navy's own Warship Design Bureau.
The bureau highlighted that the introduction of Mahendragiri showcases the significant advancements India has made in establishing an indigenous naval capability.
