Kerala becomes the country’s first fully Digital Banking State

  • Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan declared Kerala as the first state in the country to go fully digital in its banking service and said this recognition would boost the state economy.
  • Vijayan said this achievement was possible due to social interventions through local self-government institutions along with infrastructure development and technological advances in the banking sector.

Kerala Fiber Optic Network:-

  • The Chief Minister said the state government’s ambitious Kerala Fiber Optic Network (K-FON) project, which is almost 90 percent complete, will bridge the digital divide.
  • Every person in the state will get the same network. Kerala Fiber Optic Network will ensure internet access for all in the state and for this 17,155 km long optic Fiber cable network has been laid.
  • Once the project is completed, the internet will be available to everyone in the state at an affordable cost or even free of cost.
  • On the occasion, the Chief Minister also informed that Kerala received three ‘Digital India’ awards for its advancement in the digital sector, a silver medal for Ksheersree Portal, a Platinum Award for the Digital Workforce Management System, and a Gold Medal for District Administration of Kottayam.
