Jallikattu 2023’ event begins in Madurai

Jallikattu 2023 started on January 15 in Avaniyapuram village of Madurai, Tamil Nadu. It is to be organized in three villages of Madurai.
Jallikattu will be played at Palamedu on January 16 and at Alanganallur on January 17. Jallikattu is a traditional game and popular sport in the rural areas of Tamil Nadu.
Several eager young men participated in the sport, which received a fawning round of applause.
During the Pongal harvest season, which starts in mid-January, jallikattu is a well-liked sport.
The winner is determined by how long the tamer stays on the bull’s hump.
It is customarily done as a part of Mattu Pongal, the third day of Tamil Nadu’s four-day harvest festival.
The third day of Pongal is devoted to cattle, an essential agricultural partner; the Tamil term “mattu” means “bull.”
