According to authorities familiar with the situation, the army is urging its soldiers to engage in social work on their leave and contribute to the organization's nation-building efforts, while also recommending a variety of activities in which they might join.
According to the officials, these activities include educating local populations about initiatives such as Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, as well as conducting presentations in elementary schools on a variety of topics ranging from hygiene and cleanliness to road safety and the meaning of country.
