- The first dual-seat variant of the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) was delivered to the Indian Air Force (IAF) by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) in Bengaluru.
- The LCA Tejas Twin Seater represents a significant milestone, designed with the key aim of transitioning prospective aviators from dual-seat versions to fully-fledged fighter pilots.
- HAL has secured an IAF contract for 18 twin-seater aircraft and plans to fulfill the delivery of eight units by the 2023-24 fiscal year, with the remaining ten to be delivered by the 2026-27 fiscal year.
- The production of the inaugural twin-seater model underscores HAL’s strengthened capability to meet the IAF’s training needs and to function as a combat-ready fighter aircraft when required.
