- The Indian Air Force has inducted the first among six advanced Dornier Do-228 airplanes, entirely produced by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).
- These planes have been upgraded with new engines, composite blades, cutting-edge avionics, and a contemporary glass cockpit.
- In March, the Ministry of Defence finalized a Rs 667 crore deal for the acquisition of six Dornier-228s from HAL for the Air Force.
- The upcoming fleet of these aircraft will feature enhanced fuel-efficient engines and propellers with five composite blades.
