- Union Home Minister Amit Shah reached at Sitabdiara in the Saran district of Bihar and paid floral tributes to socialist icon Jayaprakash Narayan on his birth anniversary at his ancestral village.
- Mr Shah unveiled a 14 feet high statue of Lok nayak Jayprakash Narayan at JP memorial building at his birthplace, Lala Tola. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Union Minister Nityanand Rai and several leaders were present on the occassion.
- Jayaprakash Narayan is popularly known as JP or Lok Nayak. He was an independent activist, theorist, socialist and political leader. He was born on 11th October 1902 in the village of Sitabdiara, Ballia district, Bihar. He was awarded Bharat Ratna Award in 1999 (Posthumously).
- “JP fought for ideology and no power. But those who do politics in his name have changed sides five times for power and are sitting in the lap of the same Congress against which he fought for all his life. He is power hungry and for power, he sacrificed JP’s ideologies and joined hands with the Congress,” the Home Minister said.
