- The government appointed former Commerce Secretary BVR Subrahmanyam as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NITI Aayog.
- Subrahmanyam, who had earlier served as the chief secretary of Jammu and Kashmir, was considered one of the few officers who were kept in the loop ahead of the verdict by the Center to abrogate Jammu and Kashmir’s special status and bifurcate the state into two union territories.
- Subrahmanyam, a 1987 batch IAS officer of the Chhattisgarh cadre, is an expert in internal security.
- He was the Additional Chief Secretary (Home) in Chhattisgarh before being deputed to Jammu and Kashmir following the imposition of Governor’s Rule in the state in June 2018 following the collapse of the PDP-BJP coalition government in the state.
