First ASEAN-India Joint Maritime Exercise ‘AIME-2023’

  • Indian Naval Ships Satpura and Delhi on May 1st, 2023, led by RAdm Gurcharan Singh, the Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet, arrived in Singapore to participate in the inaugural ASEAN India Maritime Exercise (AIME-2023). The exercise is scheduled to take place from May 2nd to May 8th, 2023.
  • With AIME-2023, India has become the fourth ASEAN dialogue partner after Russia, China and the US to conduct a maritime exercise with ASEAN.
  • AIME 2023 will provide an opportunity for Indian Navy and ASEAN Navies to work together and conduct seamless operations in the maritime domain.
  • Singapore will also host the International Maritime Defense Exhibition (IMDEX-23) and the International Maritime Security Conference (IMSC) during this period.
  • The Republic of Singapore Navy is participating with its formidable class frigate RSS Supreme. Indian Naval Ships Satpura and Delhi are participating under the command of RADM Gurcharan Singh, Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet.
  • INS Delhi, India’s first indigenously built guided missile destroyer and INS Satpura, an indigenously built guided missile stealth frigate, are based in Visakhapatnam.
  • Both of them are part of the Eastern Fleet of the Indian Navy.
