- Elon Musk has completed the deal and has taken over Twitter. In one of his first actions as the owner of the micro-blogging site, he sacked top executives including the chief executive Parag Agrawal and Vijaya Gadde who was Twitter’s legal, public policy, and trust and safety lead.
- The Twitter-Musk saga reached some definite conclusion hours before the court-set October 28 deadline to close the deal.
- Musk’s first action point came with the sacking of some of the top-level brass at Twitter, which included the Indian-origin CEO Parag Agrawal, Vijaya Gadde, the head of legal, policy, and trust; chief financial officer Ned Segal, who joined Twitter in 2017; and Sean Edgett, who was the Twitter’s general counsel since 2012.
- Twitter, however, filed a case against Musk, arguing that Musk was legally committed to the acquisition. In early October 2022, Musk agreed to renegotiate his acquisition plans for the company, on condition of a halt to legal proceedings.
