- On 4 April 2023, Haryana Chief Secretary Sanjeev Kaushal launched the Drone Imaging and Information Service of Haryana Limited (DRIISHYA) for a survey of infrastructure projects, monitoring of agriculture & horticulture crops and sensitive areas for security purposes etc. by inaugurating ‘Startup Symposium and Industry Ignite, 2023’ at Chandigarh.
- The Haryana government is using drones for surveying infrastructure projects, monitoring agriculture and horticulture crops, and surveillance of sensitive areas for security purposes.
- The Chief Secretary said that DRIISHYA will impart drone pilot training to the youth in the state which would generate employment opportunities for them. He said the state government is also using drones to curb illegal mining activities and ensure sustainable mining practices in the state.
- The government has been using drones to monitor and prevent stubble burning in the state. With this step, stubble-burning cases have come down to 47 percent as compared to the previous year.
Drone Imaging and Information Service of Haryana Limited (DRIISHYA) Scheme:-
- The Drone Imaging and Information Services (DRIISHA) scheme of Haryana Limited was started in the year 2021 as a pilot project.
- The first meeting of the Board of Directors was organized in October 2021 under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Manohar Lal.
- Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has been named as the chairman of the DRIISHYA and the chief secretary has been made the senior vice-chairman.
- In addition, 10 directors have been appointed on the board.
- The headquarters of this company has been made in Karnal and it is the nodal agency for procurement of drones.
