- Atul Chaturvedi of India has been elected as the President of Asia Palm Oil Alliance (APOA) on September 21, 2022.
- He is the first president of this global organization. Atul Chaturvedi is the Director of Adani Wilmar Limited and the President of Solvent Extractors Association (SEA) of India.
- India is the largest importer of palm oil in the Asian region and accounts for 15% of global imports.
- Followed by, China, Pakistan and Bangladesh account for 9 per cent, 4 per cent, and 2 per cent of global imports respectively.
- The next meeting of APOA may be held in Indonesia early next year.
