- To improve its operational capabilities, the Indian Army has begun the procurement of 170 Armoured Recovery Vehicles (ARVs).
- The ARVs will be purchased through the ‘Make in India’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ (self-reliance India) programs, according to officials.
- On September 5, the Request for Information (RFI) or initial tender to acquire 170 ARVs was issued.
- The RFI specifies that the ARVs must be able to operate in a variety of weather conditions and terrains, including high-altitude mountainous regions.
- They will also have to work in a variety of weather conditions, both day and night.
