country’s first hydrogen truck powered by H2ICE technology introduced by Reliance

  • Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) and its vehicle partner Ashok Leyland unveiled India’s first Hydrogen Internal Combustion Engine (H2-ICE) technology solution for heavy-duty trucks.
  • The two companies, along with their other technical partners, have been engaged in developing this technology since last year, with the first engines running in early 2022.
  • The Hydrogen Internal Combustion Engine (H2ICE) powered truck produces near-zero emissions. It gives a performance at par with a conventional diesel truck.
  • Also reduces noise. Its operating cost is also less. Thus it redefines the future of green mobility.
  • As part of its Net Carbon Zero vision, Reliance along with its vehicle partner Ashok Leyland and other technical partners has been developing this unique technology since last year. The first engine arrived in early 2022 last year.
