26th National Youth Festival

  • The Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, in collaboration with the Government of Karnataka, is organizing the 26th National Youth Festival from January 12th to 16th in Hubballi-Dharwad, Karnataka. 


  • The theme of this year’s festival is “Viksit Yuva Viksit Bharat,” which aims to empower the youth of India and promote their active participation in shaping the country’s future.

National Youth Festival:-

  • The National Youth Festival in India is an annual gathering of youth with various activities including competitive ones.
  • Celebrated to commemorate the birth anniversary of youth icon Swami Vivekananda, it is organized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, in collaboration with one of the State Governments.
  • Thus, it is held in a different state each year during National Youth Week, from 12 to 16 January every year.
  • Swami Vivekananda’s birthday on January 12 is always celebrated as National Youth Day and the week commencing from that day is known as National Youth Week.
  • The activities held during the festival include competitive and non-competitive cultural events, martial arts, exhibitions, intellectual discourses, young artists camps, seminars, and adventure programs.
  • The presentation of the National Youth Awards also takes place.

Green Festival:-

  • This year, the festival is being celebrated as a Green Youth Festival, where only reusable cutlery, napkins, and other materials are being used.
  • All mementos, medals, and stationery are made of reusable materials, and water refilling stations have been set up to reduce the use of disposables.
